I had a daughter 10 weeks ago, and still have irregular bleeding

Q. Hi. I had a daughter 10 weeks ago, and still have irregular bleeding. I had colposcopy and biopsy before I got pregnat – an year ago, which was CN1. Could I be bleeding because it has got worst? My next examination is due soon. Is there any other reason why I am bleeding.
thank,

A. This is very unlikely. You are probaly bleeding because of hormonal imbalance, common soon after a childbirth, but it may be that you need to check that it is not related to your recent pregnancy. In most cases, thi swill settle on its own.

2yrs ago I was getting abnormal smears. I had 2xcolposcopys then a biopsy

Q. Hi,2yrs ago I was getting abnormal smears, I  had 2xcolposcopys then a biopsy(6months ago) which showed cin1/2,(my friend had this and had loop cone straight away+she is now clear)have just been back for my 6month colposcopy and my results are now cin 3.I have 2wait 4wks to have loop cone+feel like ive been overlooked. If ive gone fron cin 1 to cin 3 in only 6months do you think iam likely to get cervical cancer+do you think i would be beter to go private?,

A. I feel you need treatment asap. Your local hospital will normally call you for an appointment between 2-4 weeks. That should be OK, but you can go private, if you wish. Express your concern to your GP, first, who may be able to fast-track your appointment

November 2009 I was diagnosed with HPV 52 and CIN2

Q. Dear Sir I am 31 year old : November 2009 I was diagnosed with HPV 52 and CIN2 . August 2009 I was treated for CIN 2 in Italy. February 2010 new colposcopy and biopsy showed again abnormal smear CIN1. I would like to know if I can be treated again now, after 9 months from the operation and the risks of an incompetent cervix after the second treatment. If I decide to not have a baby and maybe a different treatment in the cervix, can I be cured from HPV ? Thank you for your prompt assistance. With kind regards

A. Thanks. Yes you can be treated again, and the risk of incompetent cervix depends on the treatment technique and the extent of the CIN. Thanksfully, this is now a rare complication. It is best to refer you to a gynaecologist with interest in oncology and HPV

My cervical screen test result was abnormal

Q. My cervical screen test result was abnormal (mild dyskaryosis). I have to go back in september. I think this 6 months too long time. Can I ask a new test earlier if I want? Could I go somewhere for HPV test??? ( I live in Hereford)
Thanks,

A. Six months is generally not a long time, but you can contact your local provate hospital for an early prove colposcopy. HPV testing will not tell what is going on currently, it only adds to the risk index, which may suggest that you should have colposcopy. As colposcopy is just a clinic examination, you should probably be ressured, if that is normal.
