I have endometriosis but I think something else may be wrong, please help!

Q. I have had no periods for the last 6 years I have had 4 pregnancys 2 full terms 1 miscarriage 1 abortion I have had blood clots ( no blood) and 3 bleeds in 6 years I have a swollen stomach at random times pain and pressure in my left had side I am in pain during sex, I have had the same partner for over 6 years and constant tiredness and lack of energy and I have black outs where I completely forget things I have had a laparoscopy that showed endometriosis but I still feel there’s something else wrong! i could really do with some advice, have you any idea what this could be? Please help ,

A. Thanks. You do sound like you are likely to have endometriosis. The pre-menstrual and peri-menstrual symptoms associated with this can be quite disabling sometimes. You do need treatment, which may involve hormonal and sometimes drastic medication, such as Zoladex. I hope this helps you. Take care.

I had a miscarriage and am not having periods now?

Q. Hello sir,
More than two months ago I had a miscarriage, this was traumatic in itself but I have had problems since. after it I was checked by scan if everything clened out. Everything was apparently OK, but I’m still not having periods. Is this normal? I already done couple pergnancy tests, which have all come back negative.
I would be gratefull for your response!
thanks,

A. Thanks for taking the time out to share your problem, hopefully I can help you and others who may encounter this problem. right then dear questioner, This sometimes happens and can be realted to stress, or temporary hormonal imbalance- as you say it was quite traumatic. It can also be due to “over-cleaning” or “over-scrapping” of the lining of the womb. If you wait another month, without any period, do see your doctor, who can prescribe medication to try and bring down your period

My wife has PCOS is there any other medication she can be on to help?

Q. Dear Sir,

My wife has polycistic ovary syndrome (PCOS), this is the conclusion that was made after tests were carried out at the hospital. She has not been on any periods for about 7 months. at the present she takes the following medication
- Metformin – 500mg – 2 times daily
- Orgamed – 10mg – 2 times daily

Sir, my question- if yuo can help is that; is PCOS curable and also can you please recommend any other medication that would/could potenitaly help regulate the periods?

thanking you in advance and thanks for taking the time to read this

,

A. Thanks. Apologies for the delay in answering your question. No PCOS does not have a natural cure, but its effect can be treated effectively depending on individual cases, and when diagnosed, and how it affects the individual.. I’m not sure what orgamed is, but your wife may be helped by medications to help you ovulate regularly, from D2-D6 of each cycle. I hope this has helped in some way

I am a 38 years old woman whose period has stopped yet I want children

Q. I am a 38 years old woman whose period has stopped completely. I went to my GP asking for help because I was worried that I had not seen my period in a year, bloods were taken and I was told that my hormone levels were low. I was given a hormone correcting tablet to take for a week to help my period reset itself as my GP put it so I would have normal periods. At the end of 7 days of taking this tablet, my period came no problem and then never again since then, I’m really worried as I want to have children!! My GP refuses to refer me to a Gynaecologist as I’ve asked so I can find out what the problem is and I just cannot bear this anymore. Please help, I really want children and my husband has fathered a child elsewhere because I haven’t been able to give him a child. This problem is putting stress on my relationship, marriage and life. I thought the fact that I was a Nurse and a fellow colleague I would have been treated better from my GP but my GP just does not care and I am despair and worried about this problem. Please help me.,

A. Thanks. Do ask your hospital consultant for an opinion. Your hormonal pathway seems to be working, but you may not be having regular ovulation,. Do see your GP or his partner again.

Im due to have a operation on the 12th they was going to put the mirena in

Q. Im due to have a operation on the 12th they was going to put the mirena in but ive choosen not too but my doctor says its best for me but ive been on every pill for my periods but they aint worked or anything but i dont want injections or the rod. but surely i aint been on every pill? is there anything else that dont include surgery? ,

A. The Mirena is strictly nor surgery, but the doctor may wish to look inside the womb first before putting the coil in. If you can tolerate Mirena, its advantages overall tend to be much more than its advantages. I am sure the doctors would have discussed this with you.

First of all, everytime I get my period I am under a lot of pain

Q. Hello, I am 19 and have a few questions. First of all, everytime I get my period I am under a lot of pain. So much that I can’t study or do much.. I even become sensitive to sounds. Sometimes it even hurts in my knees. I tried a lot of pain killers but nothing has worked.
I am afraid this will interfere with my exams as it has in the past.,

A. Thanks. As before you may need to go on the pill.

I am 19 years old, I have problems with my period

Q. I am 19 years old, I have problems with my period. I get it every month for about 5 days (at least). But I am always in a lot of pain. None of my friends feel the pain I feel. I always feel nausea and sensitivity to sound. For the past 2 years I’ve been getting pains in my knees. I am afraid this will interfere with my exams. When I was younger it would hurt for days and I would vomit and then fall asleep, when I used to wake up I was fine. Now I just get nauseas, no vomit but the pain is worse and lasts a lot longer. What do I do?,

A. Thanks. Do speak to your Mum / Guardian, and consider going to the GP, unless you are happy hust taking a strong pain-killer during the periods only, you may need to go on the pill.
