Q. Hi,I am 47 years old and had a Total Laparoscopic assisted Vaginal hysterectomy 11 days ago. I have only just started to try a research my expected recovery as all I want to do is sleep, and when I am awake if I am on my feet too much or even sitting at my desk I feel like my vagina is coming out.I have been trying to find out what exercise I should be doing as I keep reading that I should have been given some by the hospital on discharge but that’s another story. I was given a leaflet on having a laparoscopy and when I pointed out to the nurses that this was not relevant she stated they had no leaflets on the procedure I had undergone. I even asked if there was a website they could give me and there was not! Also I was getting conflicting information from different nurses on recovery time.Anyway does anyone know if I should be doing pelvic floor type exercise, and after two weeks can I do short walks with my dog? And when can I drive? (Not that I feel like it)! Also I have a long term back condition and wanted to know that when I am able to turn on my tummy could I have my usual back massage from my physio which can be quite intense? Thanks Mary,
A. Thanks. My suggestion is for you to speak to your surgeon about these issues as he will have the best idea. Apologies for much delays in my response.

Q. Dear Dr
I am 52. 5 years ago I had an abdominal hysterectomy (ovaries were not removed).I have never received Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) after that. But then three years ago I started having a number of symptoms, such as hypertensia, mood swings, arthralgia, headache, weight gain, bitterness in the mouth, chronic fatigue etc. I visited my GP and she prescribe me Estradot (50mg) without any study of my health: I had endometrial hyperplasia, cervical polip,2 miscarriages (before 2 childs birth) in past. So should I start to have Estradot or I’ll have more a risk than benefit?
Thanks in advance.,
A. Thanks for your question. the thing is, it is difficult for me to advise you any other than what your GP has told you without seeing you and gauging your profile.

Q. Hi, is it possible to reverse a hysterectomy procedure???,
A. Not that I am aware of anywhere in the world currently. ?You will need a transplant surgery of somebody else’ womb. We dont routinely perform this pioneering surgical procedure

Q.I had hysterectomy for a prolapsed womb and bowel, and had a type of harness fitted,6months on uncomfortable to sit down feels like a swelling and soreness rectum vagina.,
A. Thanks. I think you will need to contact and discuss with your gynaecologist. I assume you would have had a mesh vaginal repair. You need to be examined to make sure it has not eroded into the vagina.
