Will vaginoplasty able me to have a normal sex life and a child?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 4:20 am
Q. I am 31 years old and suffering from primary amenorrhoea. But i am having severe periodical pain every month on due date.
My doctor did a laparoscopy at my 23 and found my uterus more or less normal, but absent a of vaginal canal. I think i have Vaginal Agenesis.
My doctor suggested that i should go for vaginoplasty to create vaginal canal once i decide to marry. he also told to do it just before my marriage as it might get back into previous position if i do it earlier. I want to get married now. Will vaginoplasty able me to have a normal sex life? will i be able to have baby?,

A. Thanks.the vaginoplasty should help. Have you got any space between your back passage and wee pipe – urine outlet, at all. You might be able to get pregnant depending on your ovaries and cervical canal and if your partner is ok. Successful surgery leading to reasonable intercourse should lead to pregnancy if everything is ok. If not you may need IVF of some sort.

I have a large lump inside my vagina, what is it and what should I do?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 4:14 am
Q. hello, please can you help me with this? since i was around 11 years of age i realised i wasnt normal. Im now 23. I discovered i had quite a large growth inside my vagina .. it is situated on the top wall where my bladder is and is quite large.. it is not painful just large and gets in the way sort of thing… I’ve looked on the internet and it sounds like it could be some sort of cyst or something. I was just wondering if you could advise me on what it is maybe or what I could so with it? Thank you, any help will be appreciated.,

A. Thanks for your question and entrusting me to help you. I’d ask you however to recognize I cannot give a comprehensive plan of action without seeing you myself. in the way of basic help I advise that You need to see a doctor to have it checked out as soon as possible. If it is a cyst, it can be popped or carefully removed this is not a problem as Long as it doesn’t communicate with any important structure like your wee-pile or bladder, this is where complications can occur. get down to your GP or local gyneacologist and have it checked. Had a D&C done 5years ago ,cronic pain in pubic bone

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 3:54 am
Q. sir
I Had a D&C done 5years ago to widen my cervix , I am now struggling with chronic pain in my pubic bone and lower back which have rendered me almost useless- I can hardly walk as a result. I have Had many scans, I’ve seen five different consultants but they’ve all been to no avail. They cannot give a diagnosis.Could you please help me with this by giving me an idea what could have gone wrong with the D&C for me to be in this condition?
Thanks very much sir
,

A. Thanks for the question. I’m sorry to hear about the situation you find yourself in currently. however I really do not think it is the D and C unless there were complications, You may wish to consult whoever performed this treatment to revise what exactly went on/what the exact outcomes were. You may actually have inflammation of the various joints, around the pelvis and lower back? good luck.

I am having problems with back pain, pain during sex and discharge that smells?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 3:46 am
Q. For the last three months or so, I have had irregular bleeding. I came on my oeriod as usual, they were very regular, to the day very manageable, come and gone. However I noticed this period lasted longer than usual. It was about 7 days before the bleeding stopped. I then started bleeding again about a fortnight later. I have been on cerezette for a year and never had a problem, never missed a pill. I also noticed I had periods pain which were agony, and I never experience any kind of pain. I started to get a lot of watery vaginal discharge which smells horrible and that is now pretty much every other day, I get really really wet. The bleeding has started to become more often. It’s pretty weekly I will have a bleed and also every so often it’s during/after intercourse I get either a bit of spotting or it will initiate a bleed which can last a couple of days, I’ve had a lots of aches and pains in my abdominal and pelvic area, also in my hips and lower back. I’ve started to experice some pain during intercourse. It’s not so much excruciating pain, it’s just really uncomfortable and this is something I have never experienced. My doctors doesn’t seem to be concerned as I recently had a cyst on my ovary which is no longer there.. The reason I have my concerns is that my symptoms seem to be getting worse rather than better which makes me think it may not have anything to do with the cyst. Surely if it was the cyst things should be improving as its been gone for 3 months and it was never very big or caused any problems anyway! I don’t know who to see or where to get an answer, or whether I should even be concerned. Help! ,

A. Thanks. A second opinion will help.
Also a vaginal test to exclude infection should be basic – triple swab.
I suggest you go back & see your gp.
You may eventually need a change of your oils and or consider a laparoscopy.

I was born with an abnormal vagina what should I do?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 3:37 am
Q. i was born with a type of ovarian and uterine abnormality with some agenisis and vaginal obliteration. my mom did not have much explanation and i went through puberty wiithout any hormones until my mid teens breAst tissue degeneration. now i am an adult i have noticed that i cannot find my urethra and notice that my urine excreting from vagina orifice. i am now wondering if i dont have a vagina because that 2-3cm slit is the only hole i see and when i try to insert my finger only the first third can enter without severe pain plus when i insert a catheter urine flows,

A. Thanks. You need to see a local gynaecologist as soon as possible, to examine you, if necessary in theatre, under anaesthesia to decide what you have, and how best to look after it. You should have had a scan and perhaps also need to have a laparoscopy at the time of the examination, apart from doing other genetic and chromosome testing, etc.

I have PCOS, with a total of 43 cysts and I now receive a stabbing pain, why is this?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 3:34 am
Q. Hi there Mr Daniels. Please take time out to read my question. I have PCOS, with a total of 43 cysts at last check (2008). I have had a very severe aching/stabbing pain in my vagina for about 8 weeks now as well as frequent nausea. I am really worried. No pain when I have sex, but often have lubrication problems and mood swings/depression. Please help me. I’m so worried.thank you,

A. Thanks. Please accept my apologies for the delay in answering your question, I hope it has not advanced/altered too much in this time for my answer to be irrelevant. The problems highlighted in your questions may not be related to the PCOS. You can have another scan, if you have a large cyst of the ovary, then this may explain some of your pain, depending on the location of this cyst. you’d be best off having a consultation with a gyneacologist who can advise you further.

Is it possible that an over-tightening of the pelvic floor has affected bowel function?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 12:31 pm
Q. My mother had a pelvic floor repair operation a couple of years ago, and since then, she’s had intermittent bouts of lower left abdominal pain and explosive diarrhoea. Extensive investigations were carried out resulting in no abnormality detected bar a very slight increase in collagen levels in the colon, and she ended up with a diagnosis of collagenous colitis. She feels there must be some connection with the operation and the onset of symptoms but her GP seems skeptical. Is it possible that an over-tightening of the pelvic floor or scar tissue from the operation has upset her bowel function? And if so, what treatment would you recommend?,

A. Thanks. If your mum is convinced that there is a strong association of the surgery and the colitis, then there might have been an underlying problem with the bowel which was not detectable before surgery and which became revealed after the surgery; rather than the fact that it is the surgery that caused it. I suggest that your mum undergoes additional investigations of the bowel, if it is necessary, to address her concerns – to look at her bowel functions.

Is it possible to have a reduction of the Labia majora, minor and the mons pubis?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 12:11 pm
Q. Hi, I have a bit of a sensitive question- and to be honest am a little nervous at even asking this! Basically I would like to know if reduction of the majora and mons is possible, along with the minora? And what the cost might be if these procedures were combined? Thank you for being understanding and sensitive.
,

A. Hi Thanks for your question, a lot of people tend to be nervous when revealing concerns of any type so it is brave of you to do so, remember you are dealing with professionals and we are obliged to act as such. As for your query It is certainly possible to do this, but the mons pubis is often done by a Lipo-suction, Laser or Vaser method rather than by cutting. The labia majora and minora can be done at the same time, as long as this is what you really want to do; rather than doing one and then the other. Approximate cost is £2650. I hope this helps.

what is this lump on my vaginal lip that comes and goes?

Q. hello Dr it took some doing to bring myself to use the site for this. I have a problem I need help with as I have a lump on my vaginal lip. It goes and comes (this is about the third time). It stays a while and is painful to touch. It is hard and it is definitely not an ingrowing hair as i do shave/wax and know then, this is irregular. It is about the size of a small grape with not a round shape but not deformed either – slightly irregular. I can’t get an appointment with my GP and i am very worried about it. Cam you advise?,

A. Hi, well you are brave then to air your problems many people try to ignore these situations so thanks for entrusting me. I do Apologize that this advice did not come in time,I assume you would have gone to your doctors’s by now, who would have had a look for you? If not let me know and we’ll do what we can to rectify that. also if possible do send a clinical nonfacial photo for me to read as it’s difficult to get a good understanding of whats going on without.

My period is late, my breasts hurt and I can feel pain near my ovaries, should I be worried?

Q. Good morning,

My partner and I are trying to have a baby. My period is 2 days late, normally is on time, every 28 days no fail. I did one home pregnancy test, but that came out as negative. My breasts are sore as well, but it is not so bad. Normally I experience cramping before period, but I’ve not experienced anything this month. From first day I was suppose to get period I have this sharp pain on my left side, down in ovaries and in my stomach. I am not sure what is going on. As much I wish I am pregnant, I am worried something is wrong and I am worried about ectopic pregnancy.,

A. Hi, I’ts hard to say exactly without seeing you myself. I would suggest you go and see your GP or your local hospital early pregnancy clinic. Ideally it helps if you can do another pregnancy test before going. it may turn that it’s nothing serious. I hope this has helped, do not hesitate to contact me again if there are any developments.
