I had a miscarriage and am not having periods now?

Q. Hello sir,
More than two months ago I had a miscarriage, this was traumatic in itself but I have had problems since. after it I was checked by scan if everything clened out. Everything was apparently OK, but I’m still not having periods. Is this normal? I already done couple pergnancy tests, which have all come back negative.
I would be gratefull for your response!
thanks,

A. Thanks for taking the time out to share your problem, hopefully I can help you and others who may encounter this problem. right then dear questioner, This sometimes happens and can be realted to stress, or temporary hormonal imbalance- as you say it was quite traumatic. It can also be due to “over-cleaning” or “over-scrapping” of the lining of the womb. If you wait another month, without any period, do see your doctor, who can prescribe medication to try and bring down your period

I need to know the recovery times after a total Laparoscopic hysterectomy?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Hysterectomy,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 12:04 pm
Q. Hi,I am 47 years old and had a Total Laparoscopic assisted Vaginal hysterectomy 11 days ago. I have only just started to try a research my expected recovery as all I want to do is sleep, and when I am awake if I am on my feet too much or even sitting at my desk I feel like my vagina is coming out.I have been trying to find out what exercise I should be doing as I keep reading that I should have been given some by the hospital on discharge but that’s another story. I was given a leaflet on having a laparoscopy and when I pointed out to the nurses that this was not relevant she stated they had no leaflets on the procedure I had undergone. I even asked if there was a website they could give me and there was not! Also I was getting conflicting information from different nurses on recovery time.Anyway does anyone know if I should be doing pelvic floor type exercise, and after two weeks can I do short walks with my dog? And when can I drive? (Not that I feel like it)! Also I have a long term back condition and wanted to know that when I am able to turn on my tummy could I have my usual back massage from my physio which can be quite intense? Thanks Mary,

A. Thanks. My suggestion is for you to speak to your surgeon about these issues as he will have the best idea. Apologies for much delays in my response.

I have a twitchy vulva, a bit like a tremor?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 12:00 pm
Q. Hi Mr Daniels I have a problem with my vulva, it keeps on twitching and itching e.g a bit like a tremor if you get me. It is generally quite/most frequent at night but has occurred even sometimes in the day- even when i am in the office which is uncomfortable. what is it, it’s both annoying as well as frightening I am 48 yrs old. please can you help?,

A. Thanks for the interesting question. This is an atypical symptom – the tremor part of the itching. It is important to speak to a gynaecologist – to try to understand and interpret your symptoms better, into what is more clincially relevant, so that treatment can be discussed and prescribed. However in general you may assume to have some degree of dysthaesia – and perhaps amitriptyline-type of medication can be tried, apart from the usual – anti-itching creams. I hope this helps somewhat. Thanks again, Mr Joe Daniels

I am blighted by a pain and am about to give up with the whole thing

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — Tags: — admin @ 11:49 am
Q. what can this cyst be ? i have had constant pain from feb last year, the pain is in my back, hips, knees and feet? I had an MRI scan done and the uteurss cam through this morning, they say i have to go for an ultrasound as there is a cyst in my pelvis. from my hip sockets down to my toes it is agoney, im all stiff , its worse in the morning i rely on painkillers, tramadol dont work, im on anti-inflammatories, (arcoxia). if i forget to take them im in unbearable pain. i dont have peroid pain or any abnormal bleeding (my peroids always have been messed up). i dont have a sore tummy. i read up on ovarian cysts and im convinced its not that. even then how can a cyst cause this pain in my hips, legs & feet. im fed up of blood tests , Dr’s dont have any answers, i just want to know why i can barely walk and whats goin on inside my body. i have 2 kids & pets. im 28yrs old i am the eldest out of 5 kids, i am the only girl so my brothers need me aswell, im just so worried that i will end up totally bed ridden or worse. do any of you know what this is or have you seen the same symtoms, i just feel like giving up. i already suffer from post traumatic stress disorder, pars defect in my lower spine, my emotions are all over the place im on antidepressants, sleeping tablets, diazepam (ive been on these for years but this pain is making it harder to try and stay out of depression and anxiety) i really hope someone reads this and can tell me more , its getting to the point that i dont want to go to the Dr’s or hospitals anymore because we are getting no where.sigh..thank you,. my mum has got MS so i have to prepare to be there for my brothers, my youngest brother is only 8 . they all live a flight or few hours drive away so i dont see them often although we talk everyday almost, i unconditionally feel responsable for all of them would hate anything to happen to me because i know life would not ever be the same for them, i dont want to hurt them and if i died i know it would, we werent a close family growing up, but we have been through alot as a family i just want to make up for lost time. my brothers dont have anyone apart from my mum and me to turn to so you see thats why i need to be well and why i worry so much (although i do that anyway). i have cried most of my life and tried to fight of this depression, i need to continue counselling but i am to sore to go most days, nobody understands what this pain is like. i just want to cry , put my duvet over my head and pretend life doesnt excist,

A. Thanks. My suggestion is for you to speak to your doctor or perhaps another if yours isn’t great. It could be that this is related to your muscle and bones, if not from your pelvic organs. My apologies for the delays in this response.

I need help with ovarian cysts and herbal remedies?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 11:40 am
Q. Ovarian Cysts and herbal remedies ..? please answer someone?I have suffered with ovarian cysts since I was 14 (now 20). I have never had one go away’ or dissolve like they are meant to. They grow very large and need removing. If they are not removed and they burst, it is excruciating.I put it down to an extreme hormonal in-balance. I suffer acne, oily skin, hair loss, too much body hair,no sex drive, vaginal dryness, stress, fatigue .I’m totally fed up.The hospital do a good job of removing the cysts (but that’s it) and my doctor is pretty useless. She told me to take birth control but that causes a world of other problems for me.. ..I need help PREVENTING them in the first place, not just getting rid of them with invasive surgery or excruciating pain.I have recently heard that herbs such as dong quai, agnus castus and korean ginseng can help my hormonal balance and increase my libido ..I got a bit confused though cuz ginseng is meant to increase oestrogen .but that’s what causes cysts isnt it?!I bought agnus castus and ginseng but now i’m wondering if i should of bought dong quai instead of these or even just instead of ginseng. Can i take agnus castus with dong quai or is one or the other?and does ginseng really work?????Anyone with any experiences with either cyst prevention or taking herb supplements. Please help me! please Im so desperate. I’ve put up with this for too long at such a young age. x,

A. Thanks. We try not to get involve with herbal remedies, as we do not know what they indeed contain, despite what the manufacturers claim. Thanks. My suggestion is for you to speak to your surgeon. You are likely to have recurrent haemorrhagic cysts, which can be treated by stopping you from having monthly ovulations. Injections are available to do that. Apologies for much delays in response.

I get a burning sensation when my husband ejaculates during intercourse?

Q. I’m having a strange problem since last July which still continues. when having sexual intercourse everything is fine, only when my husband ejaculates inside my vagina I have very severe burning in vagina and it cools only until i wash with cold shower/water for atleast 15 mins. and if my hubby doesn’t ejaculate there is no burning at all.. i want to know what problem is this ? ,

A. Thanks. It is obvious that this will relate to some degree of sensitivity of your vagina skin to his sperm. There will be various reasons for this sensitivity – either some inflammation from germs, chemicals, etc.. in the sperm fluid or some unusually sensitive lining of the vagina skin, which may have developed of recent – infection, allergy, etc.

I need help after lots of unsuccessful surgery

Q. Dear Sir,

How are you? hope you are doing well
I am sending a brief info of my wife to you and need your guidance
My wife had an accident in 2008 and there was internal bleeding from her Vagina. I took her to the hospital and they operated it to stop the bleeding.
After the operation there wasn’t enough space for intercourse.
In February 2010 the doctor operated her again to make some space for intercourse but it was not successful
now i visited some specialist doctors again and they are asking yet again, for surgery.
Is it possible if i wanna go for this surgery in your hospital, doctors here in my country have already operated twice and there is no result.
If Possible what will be the Approximate cost.

Your kind advise is required.
,

A. Thanks. It depends on exactly what type of surgery necessary. My estimate is that it will be approximately between £1650 – £2200, depending on the plan

I have not recovered vaginal tone since delivering my baby. Is vaginal tightening surgery an option?

Q. Hello Dr Daniels and thank you for your time. I gave birth 2 years ago to a beautiful 9 pounds baby. I have not recovered by vaginal tone yet, since air comes in an out because the vagina walls are not closed.
Is the vaginal tightening surgery useful in this case? Thank you for this!,

A. Thanks for the question. I think that it is going to be very difficult to get more “tone” to stop the vaginal wind – it is usually due to damage to the transverse perineal muscles – which form the “vagina gate” against air-trapping – A vaginal tigthening will help that, but the tigthening must include, not just vaginal narrowing, but also closure of the transverse pernieal muscles – as in a properly done perineoplasty – with this in mind. If you would want this carried out privately, do let us know by calling us on – 0207-117-6456 or email at info@gynecosmetics.com

I have an unruly abscess next to my clitoris that I have had treatment for what could it be?

Filed under: Expert Answers,Gynecology,Mr Joe Daniels — admin @ 12:48 pm
Q. I was treated with Flucloxacillin for an abcess located in the area of tissue to the right of my clitoris, on the day i finished the course the abcess began to swelll up and become painful again. My GP says it is a Bartholins cyst and has now prescribed coamoxiclav, today it ruptured but has not fully drained. Is this a Bartholins cyst – it is not located at the opening of the posterior vagina and even my gp said the location is unusual? What could it be? it is not due to STI/STD and ive never had the issue before. Thank you.,

A. Thanks for your interesting question. I would suggest that you would have had a Vulval abscess – in specific terms – a para-clitoral or labial abscess. All abscess, need to drain or be drained. I hope this helps, perhaps go back to your GP with this information and ask what they think about it, alternatively try and visit a local gyneacologist. good luck
